About

WELCOME to small girl BIG plate!

My love for food started at the age of 5 when my parents bought me a play kitchen that took up my entire room. Some of my best childhood memories were the countless hours where I would pretend to cook. It was near the age of 8 where make belief play was made into reality – and it became nearly impossible to get me out of the kitchen. At the age of 10 I watched enough hours of food network daily to give me serious headaches… and it was only two years after, at the age of 12, where I had my first true crush-it was for Jamie Oliver (or his tuna carpaccio not sure).

At the age of 13 I bought a little green notebook and started to write down my own recipes and ideas. At the age of 15 my dad took me to the mall for what was supposed to be a shopping trip and I came home with a bread maker (of course) – which resulted in a non-stopping year long bread making phase. At the age of 16 I shed some serious tears at my birthday over my beautiful pink Kitchen Aid mixer… and it was here, where tears shed over a mixer made me realized that I was obsessed.

My love and appreciation for food has only grown over the years and here I am now – a 20 year old full time foodie with a dream of soon attending medical school and first year medical school student!

After years of constantly bothering my friends and family about what I made/ate/or bought that day I decided it was time to create a food blog to share my passion with fellow foodies and to provide affordable and easy to follow recipes for the everyday cook.

If you have any comments, questions, or recipe requests please feel free to contact me… in the meantime, let’s eat!

Absolutely love it! I’ve been sitting here for at least an hour going through it all and bookmarking your recipes which will soon become hot plates in front of me. You’re a wicked writer and clearly have good taste (literally).
